Mocked for Fidelity
Let us arouse contrition in our hearts, for today the Bridegroom of souls is given a pretend wedding crown as a symbol of mockery, made out of the sins of His Bride, Her sins piercing Him like a thousand needles on His head. His scepter, His symbol of authority over Her, is become a symbol of mockery and rejection. Let us cry out to Him, repenting of our sins, in order to anoint the wounds our sins caused Him with our tears of contrition, for He, in patient submission to the Father, endures everything contrary to His nature as Bridegroom as a penance for His Bride, the Church, in His great love for mankind.
