Byzantine Chant for Lent

From Byzypriest:

The Canon of St Andrew of Crete during the first week of Lent at Ukrainian catholic University, Lviv (2012).

The Canon of St Andrew of Crete is a penitential canon chanted during Lent in the Eastern Churches. Note the prostrations during the refrain "Pomiluj me Bozhe, Pomiluj me" ("Have mercy on me O God, have mercy on me"). The prostration is a penitential mark which is a very common feature in Eastern Catholic liturgies during Lent. The chanting of the canon goes together with the reading of the life of St. Mary of Egypt, which I recounted here.
